{Denise gracefully hosts Six Sentence Stories, where writers unleash their magic under one simple rule: in no more or no less than 6 sentences.
This week’s prompt word is : FORM
A Tale from the Six Sentence Café & Bistro}
//\\
Scene: outside St Vincent’s Hospital following the events of Denise’s Six:
“Quicksand and Candy Canes. It’s a 6.”
Yin & Yang, non?
…Oh, nothing much, we had a few decades deducted from our lifespan as you were remaining unconscious despite all efforts not to – the worst feeling of seeing a loved one in need and being unable to intervene; thank God for Deus Mimi/Hunga ex machina!
As the paramedics were getting ready to close the doors of the ambulance that would return Denise home (not daring to interrupt the bearded man whose encounters with the hospital’s security have already made their rounds as surely as the nightshift nurses), holding her hand I said: “I’m right behind you. Home in no time & all will be a dream of the past.”; “Drive safely, Nick. See you soon, Gatekeeper!” Denise replied with her trademark Bartender flair – it looks like rain…
Alone in the parking lot, helmet in front of me, hand on the ignition key, heavy rain commences its rhapsody…engine off, floodgates open as I am camouflaged by myriads of rain drops, looking right and left if anyone is watching, none is, shaking, tears unleashed – my armor of Nick the stalwart, *“The Gatekeeper, article in bold font when he had occasion to enforce his No Assholes rule of those who frequent the Six Sentence Café & Bistro”*from Clark’s Six lost its rigid form as all defenses are melting.
If you could feel the things I am able to feel, you’d be scared, as most are, fleeing in a moment’s notice; darkness and light fight once again as soon as I heard the words in French by her bedside :” ”je pense que je suis perdu mais je ne sais pas où…je rêve… où es-tu, Nick?”
Like a million volts current, feelings rather than images overwhelm me:
love, angel?, hope, sea, doubt, Angelique?, port, destination, fear, hold me, embrace, new beginnings, Nikolaos?, defiance, ς for an s, why am I tuning in all these cosmic echoes, what is the cost, no more room to move more outside(r), breathe, I can’t move, break me out, breathe, help, can’t take anymore, alone…
A voice fills my soul, coming from a face with trees as mouth and eyes, cloudy skies as forehead:
“ Εδώ είμαι…όταν η ελπίδα βυθίζεται σαν πέτρα, πάρε το χέρι μου και μαζί θα περπατήσουμε πίσω στο σπίτι μας…όσο μακρύς κι αν είναι ο δρόμος.”
[I am here…when hope sinks like a stone, take my hand and together we will walk back home…no matter how long the road may be.”] – ignition on, c’mon we have to make it before the ambulance at her place, Denise has to enter her home when it is filled with the aroma of fresh New England DS Blend brewing & the promise we are not alone written in all the small things that make a huge difference in the weaving of our lives.

like a good song, this week’s Six offers a number of enjoyment nodes, will return.
…the first, (like the guitar string ‘scrape’ in the opening of AC/DC’s Back in Black) enjoyable wordage:
“…we are not alone written in all the small things that make a huge difference in the weaving of our lives.“

Such an event, so deep the love, hope, fear, concern, it takes the years off.

Yes Mimi. But life in its balance can give them back, a loving relationship, a huge hug, a sunset watched in silence with loved ones ( and a bbq afterwards😄).

And when the rain begins… the knight pauses to ‘feel’ and then receives visions of strength to continue the journey.
Nick, sentence N°5 was breath-taking, what a storm of words and emotions! I love the movie-scenes vibe of all it all though. Cool comic book style panel of you and bike, too 😎
