( Events unfolding before what is to be known as the SSC&B Heist…)
//\\//
Under the soft glow from the green banker’s light on her desk, Denise took a deep breath looking at the Proprietors: “Are we all set up for the event on Friday?
Cause Chris won’t launch her new book twice, ya know…”
” Everything is going according to plan” Ford replied as he was thinking that he needs to get some sunshine vitamin aka D from soaking in the morning sun.
” I didn’t know we had a plan” Clark said with his trademark calm voice akin to the exhale of a sniper just before he puts to the test the one shot – one kill doctrine.
” We don’t ” I managed to say as I was laughing; and before a firestorm erupts from the volcano we all know and love, I added ” But I’ve made some new posters.
Although, you know what we do have, don’t you? ” said on my way to the small stage, grabbing the guitar, giving the bass to Denise, Clark at the keyboards, Ford already setting the tempo with the kick /hi hat combo, Mimi Jenne and Chris lead and backing vocals ;
” Foo Fighters song to jam!”
Let’s par tee!!

I’ll take a note of this historic date when two formidable wordsmiths and storytellers were lost for words …almost🤣😎

Excellent installment. And posters! 😆 Seven Proprietors – good band name too 😎
It’s been great fun preparing for Chris’s book launch, Spira. What do you say we get to that soundcheck, then rock the house down!!!!

Always!
It is , isn’t it?😎
I was waiting forever for you to say those words !!
* cue slow motion montage with drifting close ups under soft guitars until frame sits on Ford, slowly transforming to the music beast he is…drumsticks in the air, 1 2 3 boom…eruptions of seismic proportions…well , the rest is history…*🤘💥

Agree, ‘Seven Proprietors’ is a good band name, or even an album title! 😎

This is so cool, Spira 😎 Love the posters, love the music and most of all, the word pictures now dancing in my head! The scene is almost set…

Well above deserved Chris!
Was initially planning to do a video with face changer software but my laptop refused to comply …so then tried the mobile avenue, but my not so thin fingers were not exactly helpful in placing the faces exactly where I wanted…but overall and judging from the response, I am happy with the result.
It is set indeed! Speaking of pictures, check out the one our mate Ford drew in the comments here!!
Enjoy everything dear friend. Your joy is ours.

Boom, boom, boom goes the bass drum check; a Rickenbacker uncoils on its four fat strings; a jack crackles as an Ibanez plugs into a Marshall; electronic organ whirls to the rafters; mics feedback then melt into pure soul reverb; is that horns and a sax I hear? Harmonica? A flamin’ kazoo for goodness sake? Kertash, kertash, kertash goes the tambourine. Hey! Gonna rock the house in a little bit… gonna turn that roof upside down and inside out… because as Maddie once said: “Music makes the people come together, yeah!”
Nick… just awesome!!! And those posters you made… 😂🤣😂🤣😁😃😎😂😀😊🤩

And this is ladies and gents why there is a difference between a pen wielder (as myself) & a true master wordsmith and storyteller (as Ford and the rest of the fellowship)!!
Mate!!
The roof is leaving…for sure 😀
TY…Cheers and a huge hug!!

Whoah! Wait a minute, V… Rickenbacker?? I only pull that thing out when I don’t care what I play 😆
Go tell the Sophomore to bring my ’59 Precision out here, pronto!!
You got it, baby. We are “gonna turn that roof upside down and inside out…”

lol yeah! on that choice of instruments? I got an SG with a single P90 (at the bridge, of course)… that might want to come an play*
*ceptin I haven’t touched it since I typed the first post at the Doctrine way back when… so I guess I’ll limit myself (as Nick has intuited) to keyboard (computer, that is)
lol

Apologies! As I had no idea of your musical backgrounds, apart from Ford’s…Now, you’ve got to awaken this pupie…
And since we are going all american :Fender for D, Gibson for you, I better bring my Gretsch!
Clark you are hereby ordered to stay AFK and strap that SG!!

Yeap, it seemed a bit obvious (though of course worthy) to mention the classic Stratocaster and Les Paul in my ‘musical’ reply… so I opted for an Ibanez.
Sure, Clark and D both play guitar… you too Nick, me… I dabble in whatever I lay my hands upon, but its drums and percussion all the way as a passion. As for the others… what do we play, what dials do our fingers turn, what do we sing, what do we hum along to? We are all musicians no matter our tools.

So here’s the weird thing: I can think of nothing that could compel me to even touch a guitar.
(I followed the path so common to those of us in the early ’70s us who went to college as an anticipatory retirement, i.e. bar bands, and I say with no small pride, a band that played wedding receptions)
The thing of it is, the Wakefield Doctrine manifested itself into a blog and the subsequent years of realizing that, just as someone who can sing in a shower is not necessarily equipped to become a vocalist, being able to type did not make me a writer. And my mission was to explain the Doctrine to as many people as possible.
I quickly realized I needed to learn to write good, in a hurry. And, like being in a band as the least skilled musician, by hanging out with talented people in a medium (if not a world) that was rhetoric-centric I’ve improved.
But play music again?
No sir(s) / Ma’am!
I am not ashamed to say I’m a way better writer than I was a guitar player. And, in some kinda messed up, reversed Robert Johnson sense, everything in me says, ‘You cain’t have two Muses at the same time. Leave that multi-instrumentalist shit to Prince and Paul McCartney and them.
But if anyone wants to buy a 1965 SG (technically it was considered a Les Paul at the time) or a 1983 (or so) BC Rich Mockingbird lemme know!

Good Six. Excellent graphic.
And… and! your effectively contributing to the sense of virtual reality; what with the SSC&B being an increasingly ‘real’ context for interactioning characters.
(I’ll save it for the Group Thread, but ‘this thing of ours’* is showing promise to become a do-it-oneself holodeck except rigidly enforced continuity (over storylines, character development and who-is-behind-the-mask) is totally, imo, optional to us participant writers.)
cool

The beauty of it is that is taking a life of its own, no?
And my friend, neuro physiologically speaking the perceived reality and the manipulation of said perception is a big can of worms…
This thing of ours seems that it just got rid of the training wheels!
Alla nostra salute!

I hear you man. If I was geographically in a more convenient GPS position, you would hear from me about that Mockingbird; especially if it is with the natural finish!
