Three years ago I was writing :
” Freedom…what does it mean?
For Oxford Dictionary is ” the power or right to act, speak or think as one wants”.
Freedom exists in the minds and hearts of humans …
… this ability to individually express oneself gives meaning to freedom and stands as a crystal clear depiction of this inherent attribute of mankind.
Freedom’s umbilical cord is the adoption of a unique, personal identity. “
Depending on the part of the world each of us resides, there is one fundamental freedom that is widely refused; the right to choose one’s death as consciously as one chooses a path of life.
The reason of this post is that today Spain has passed a law to legalise euthanasia.
Thus becoming the fourth country in Europe to do so.
I am happy and grateful for that. Not only as someone who has treated in the past people with terminal illness but also as a human for those being liberated from one heavy chain…
(If anyone wishes to see my ,three years ago, post here is the link for La cadena adentro )
Well done. Was pleased to follow the link and see how you related that sculpture to these thoughts.

Thank you Ford.

The right to a dignified death is beyond important. I’ve seen end of life suffering where doctors have intervened just because they can and, to be even more cynical, because medical aid will pay. As Ford has already said, ‘Kudos to Spain’.

“…is beyond important.” Exactly!!
And I am sorry to say that what you described is not cynicism but a factual depiction of reality.
Chris, your insights are always more than welcome. Thank you.
I wish you a beautiful, inspired day. ☀️
