After Leonardo Da Vinci’s ” Virgin of the Rocks”

The Virgin of the Rocks

This creation is my effort to recreate in 3 dimensions this extraordinary painting by Leonardo Da Vinci.
Those with a keen eye may notice some differences between this painting and the one that is appeared at the Louvre during Dan Brown’s : ” The Da Vinci Code”.
Well, there are two versions of the painting ; I am following this one, the London Virgin of the Rocks, as it is called nowadays.

“… The Virgin of the Rocks thereby became one of the first major paintings in post medieval art history to leave its religious context soon after its completion & on the initiative of the artist.
The painting thus stood at the start of a lengthy historical process, over the course of which the work of art would gradually lose its value as an object of religious veneration and assume a new value as an object of aesthetic appreciation”.

Depending on how successful you consider my creation to be, I may explore other paintings in the future.

Η δημιουργία αυτή είναι η απόπειρα μου να αναπαραστήσω τρισδιάστατα τον πίνακα του Λεονάρντο ντα Βίντσι “Η Παρθένος των Βράχων“.
Εκτός από αυτή την εκδοχή, του Λονδίνου, που βασίζομαι, υπάρχει και η εκδοχή του Λούβρου ( όπως αποκαλούνται σε συνάρτηση με τα μουσεία όπου εκθέτονται).
Ιστορικά ο πίνακας αυτός σηματοδοτεί την έναρξη μιας μακράς περιόδου κατά την οποία ένα έργο τέχνης σταδιακά απεκδύεται την θρησκευτική / λατρευτική του αξία και αξιώνει μία καινούρια, πλέον καθαρά αισθητική.

Ανάλογα με το πόσο επιτυχημένη θεωρείτε τη δημιουργία μου, ίσως στο μέλλον να εξερευνήσω τουτοιοτρόπως και άλλους πίνακες.
