The Snake Goddess / H Θεά των Όφεων

 A few facts which form the base of this creation:
The Snake Goddess refers to figurines found at the excavations of Minoan civilization sites at Crete.

Knossos refers to the archaeological site of Crete, of the Minoan civilization dating from the Bronze age. The Minoan civilization is found in Santorini as well and  according to an hypothesis is associated with the lost Atlantis.
The Labyrinth at the creation is made after the one found at a 400 BC silver coin at Knossos.
The Flower of Life floor motif, although not found at the site, is a widely spread sacred geometry pattern.
The Labrys , the double headed axe symbol, is closely connected with the Minoan worship of the Goddess, which marks a peak of that civilization as it entered the 2nd millennium BC. Knowing the love ancient Hellenes had for Geometry, I used 3 intersecting circles to recreate it.
Finally, the rusted metal piece from the bottom of the sea, seems to me like a model of ancient Hellenic ship, the Trieres (trireme).

Μία δημιουργία εμπνευσμένη από την Θεά των Όφεων της Κνωσσού.
Ο Λαβύρινθος είναι αντίγραφο σχεδίου ασημένιου νομίσματος της Κνωσσού, από το 400 πΧ.
Το σχέδιο του πατώματος απεικονίζει ένα μοτίβο που στην ιερή Γεωμετρία λέγεται Άνθος της Ζωής.
Η Λάβρυς, ο διπλός πέλεκυς, κυρίαρχο σύμβολο του Μινωϊκού πολιτισμού, συνδέεται στενά με την λατρεία της Θεάς, γεγονός που σηματοδοτεί την κορύφωση του πολιτισμού αυτού καθώς εισέρχεται στην 2η χιλιετία πΧ.
Ως φόρο τιμής στην αγάπη των αρχαίων Ελλήνων για τη Γεωμετρία, δημιούργησα την λάβρυ με τρεις αλληλοτεμνόμενους κύκλους.
Τέλος, στο κουζουλό μυαλό μου, το σκουριασμένο μέταλο που ανέσυρα από τη θάλασσα μοιάζει με αρχαία Τριήρη.
