Thinking about my first encounter with rock it had to be through my dad’s records of late 60’s ; the preparation of the record, setting the record player, you know the whole nine yards.
Then it was a tape mixed by my cousin Jerry from Los Angeles ; a red tape with Deep Purple’s Machine Head (nuff said), Black Sabbath, Supertramp, P. Frampton…
That was it…hooked for life! And of course I will never forget the revelation upon listening the voice of R.J.Dio with Rainbow. Many years have passed since but the love of rock hasn’t withered . Let’s be honest ; some sentiments are finding their only companion in rock.
If one has felt the soul of rock, one carries it forever…at least I am!!
And if during a thunderstorm you thought you heard music, don’t worry, you did… some guys were jamming together blowing up heaven’s amps with their rock, creating celestial awesomeness! 😉

….It’s only rock and roll, but I like it !! Listening to your Friday night jam sessions on the electric guitar, I knew that sooner or later you would be inspired to portray this passion of yours in an artwork of sculpture. In fact, I’m sure the whole neighbourhood was expecting it…. and we can all rest easier now! Keep jammin’ buddy!

Wow, so glad you linked this in your newest guitar post which I haven’t even read yet (I wanted to check the link straightaway). What a cool tribute to the old school rock and metal gods (with an Ibanez neck and headstock to boot. The Hendrix plectrum is a sweet addition). This also gives glimpse into your musical b/ground and tastes, which help shape who we are today. The artists you mention – pure class. But RJD, the most sweetest yet powerful voice ever. I met him once backstage at a concert, and he was a true gent. Miss his contribution to music so much, but his voice lives on in special bands from special times.
Long Live Rock ‘N Roll!

“Met Ronnie James Dio”: oh, you lucky bastard (with affection said)!!!
I ‘ll tell you one thing I keep saying that shows my affection for him :
I have booked a place in Hell because 1. All you good people filled all the Paradise seats
2. There is always good weather, a bit hot nonetheless
3. I can be in the company of RJDio and listen to his voice for eternity!!
So, you get the picture!
Well, as you’ve probably noticed apart from favourites, those artists are also dead – and that was the idea behind that creation. I may have to add some names , unfortunately.
As far as musical background goes, man it’s all over the place. I love everything that has a soul in its core.
Of course, I have my soft spots for hard/metal soundscapes!
As we said, over coffee, whisky and cigars!!
Long Live my dear friend!
